Welcome Home, You

20171124_163222

I have the best welcome home kitty in the world. Shadow is always so good at being right there by my car door whenever I come home. Last month I came home and the kids had fallen asleep in the car, as they usually do. It was just me and Shadow and the sunshine was beautiful.

He is so good at being welcoming. I think its probably 80% he wants fed and 20% happy to see me…but I’ll take what I can get!

The poor guy has been out in the cold lately. Really wish I could let him in but he has fleas and such so I (ok yes it was mostly my husband, with a bit of prodding) just made him a little box, and then insulated it as best I could with newspaper.

His little “house” needs a bit of straw to make it nice but at least he has a spot to block the wind. I’m not sure if he’s using it or not but maybe he will get the hint eventually. Cats are funny about new things.

Shadow (or Begheera as my husband calls him) has a very thick coat of fur so I know he’s warmer than I think he is. Still, I feel bad for animals that are out in the cold like that 😦

There are a lot of cats around here though. They all stay outside so they’ve all made it through the cold winters somehow. I expect they have their little nooks where they like to stay and sleep sheltered from the weather 🙂

Do you have any furry friends to welcome you home? How do you keep them warm in the winter (if they stay outside)?

In other news…

20170923_085621

Can I just be real? Good. Well a lot of the time I’m like, “I don’t know what to write about for Caturday. Stella isn’t all that interesting. She’s kindof a boring cat.”

Sorry Stella. I love you and it’s not your fault housecat life is a tad dull.

It’s just been a regular week for our beloved kitty.

But in other news…

Our outside cat (Yes our. I have claimed the cat 🙂 ) is actually not a “she” as I originally thought. Shadow is in fact a neutered male. No idea on his age or where he came from but he definitely has had some contact with humans at some point.

Inside cat=boring but sweet. Outside cat=mysterious origins, needy but grateful and loving. Both have been rescued. Both need our love, our care and our kindness.

Such a small thing to do, caring for a pet, an animal that needs you. But it’s a small way to make the world a better, kinder place. One small step 🙂

Happy Caturday!

Cat Treat Shampoo

20170916_084059-1

Stella is a good sport. So sometimes I feel like she needs some treats as a reward for putting up with so much. She spends most of the day in hiding really. Waiting for the time when the kids are napping or away so she can nap in peace wherever she wants.

Anyways. She got some treats this morning. Chomped them down and then proceeded to lick herself all over which I find so funny. Cats eat something delicious then just coat themselves with the flavor so they can savor it all day. It makes me laugh.

Did you say….cat treats?
20170916_083815-1
Why yes, they were delicious.
20170916_083823-1-1
Better lick myself all over so I can remember the deliciousness forever!

You should give me more. I need more.

Sorry Stella I think you’ve had enough for now. More later 🙂

If you’re curious about what kind of treats they were this is the one. Salmon always goes down well. I think they were like $1.

Happy Caturday!

Maybe if I just lay my ears back a little bit everyone will get the picture.

Nope I’m too nervous here. I think I’ll go seek out another hidey spot. Thanks anyways Mom.

This process happens more times in a day than I can count. Brave Stella.

Caturday & Stella’s Story

20170722_102510-1

Happy Caturday! I realize I haven’t properly introduced the 5th member of our family. This is our cat Stella. Really she’s my cat but we all love her. Even my husband who says he dislikes cats.

We adopted Stella 3/11/2015 from a local pet store. She was transferred there from the animal shelter. Stella was labeled as a domestic short hair mixed breed and 3 years old. That makes her 5 years old today.

My husband says he doesn’t like cats. But he loves me. And I love cats. Thus Stella. She adds joy to my life. She is a sweet companion and so understanding and patient with the kids.

I knew she was the cat for us when she stuck her little paw out of her cage and batted playfully at my son. J giggled and I fell in love with this sweet little ball of fur. Our Stella.
