Hall Thunderer

Apologies for the late post today, dear readers! It has been one crazy week. My son had his first week of preschool and I’ve been canning and freezing a. Ton. Of. Stuff.

Last night I got to thinking about Stella in preparation for today’s post. I’m always calling her Sweet Stella…Brave Stella. And she is a good kitty. But I wanted to share a few of her quirky habits. Some of the things she does drive me crazy. But they just mean that a) she’s a cat and b) she is unique.

The first name for Stella that came to mind was “Hall Thunderer”. She loves running full speed through the hall in the dead of night.

And then that name reminded me of a scene from The Hobbit, which I am currently reading. I’m a huge Tolkien fan 😊

“…I come from under the hill, and under the hills and over the hills my paths lead. And through the air. I am him who walks unseen.”

“So I can well believe,” said Smaug, “but that is hardly your usual name.”

“I am the clue-finder, the web-cutter, the stinging fly. I was chosen for the lucky number…I am the friend of bears and the guest of eagles. I am Ringwinner and Luckwearer; and I am Barrel-rider,” went on Bilbo beginning to be pleased with his riddling.”

-from The Hobbit, Chapter 12, by J.R.R. Tolkien

I was inspired to continue finding interesting names for Stella, based on her habits. Here is what I came up with:

O Stella

I call you

Fly Eater,

Grape Stealer,

Mouse Snatcher,

She-Who-Continually-Scratches-The-Door,

Sock Chaser,

Hand Biter,

Stink Maker,

Window Watcher,

Sleeping Tiger,

Night Yowler,

The One Who Is Always Hungry,

Stealth Shadow,

Fish Stalker,

And of course Hall Thunderer.

My sweet, unique and sometimes annoying Stella.
